Advice on furnishing your property
To furnish or not to furnish, is a question most landlords will face at one time or another.
Unfortunately there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, as it depends on the type of let you have, the kind of tenant you want to attract and the location of your property.
Today, there are more than 4.5 million households renting privately. That’s currently 18% of all UK residential properties, a figure that’s expected to double over the next decade, thanks to the continued growth of the buy-to-let sector.
So the private rental market is here to stay. And, although unfurnished lets are still the most popular choice for tenants, there is a fast-growing demand for furnished properties driven by the changing needs of the modern tenant.
As such, rental properties have to reflect this in their styles, design and features. Even an unfurnished let won’t be a completely blank space. Flooring, built-in furniture and the essential appliances feature in most properties these days.
